An Important note to America Online Users

The graphics on this site have been optimized for viewing on the World Wide Web. Several of the browsers provided with America Online may produce unsatisfactory results with these graphics, due to a secondary compression setting AOL incorporates in these browsers. This helps speed download times in some instances, but can severely distort many images you view on the Web. There are 2 solutions to this problem:

The simple solution: Turn off graphics compression and purge your cache in the AOL browser. Click on the "Prefs" button at the top of your browser window, then on the "Web Graphics" tab. Uncheck the box that says "Use compressed graphics".

This will prevent overcompression of any new images you access, however to correctly view any images already viewed once, you'll need to purge your browser cache. This can be accomplished in the newest version by clicking on the "prefs" button, then the "General" tab. In the "Temporary Internet files" section, click on the "Delete Files" button and then on "OK". This will solve the problem and most users won't notice a substantial difference in speed. Please note that this procedure may vary slightly with older versions. I'm told that some versions may have a "Purge Cache" button in the "Advanced" section.

The better, more complex solution: Download and install a full version of Internet Explorer or Netscape and use it in conjunction with your AOL connection. You'll find instructions on using these browsers with AOL on their homepages and on AOL's homepage.
